Scrapmettle preps for the 2016-2017 season with table readings of plays we're considering for our audiences. Take a sneak peak at what we're cooking up for next year, sit in on our process and give us your feedback.

About Our Pick:
Flyin’ West is the story of a small group of African-American women whose lives changed during the westward expansion. Settling into a harsh region draws out the experiences and feelings of 4 women who left the oppressive south to find the freedom they were denied.

Flyin' West reminds us that the Homestead Act made it possible for people of all races and genders to own land and support themselves. It remains one of Cleage’s most admired works and gives us a chance to examine issues of racism, interracial marriage, feminism and freedom.
