5th graders at Ecole Actuelle Bilingue in Dakar, Senegal and Wiley Elementary School in Greensboro, North Carolina examine their cultural connections to food during and online cultural exchange.  

Students on both continents connect weekly via Google Hangouts for lessons that explore the impact of food on culture and health.  Children calculate the sugar, sodium, fat and calorie content of foods they eat, learn the dining etiquette of each region and use digital storytelling to record their favorite food memories.
