We're considering "Hoodoo Love" by Katori Hall because we're inspired by her fresh but familiar voices and the way she builds a story. "Hoodoo Love" takes place in Memphis during the depression. It's about a young woman (Toulou) who wants to be a singer but gets hung up on a blues musician (Ace) who is "always in the wind." So, she gets the local hoodoo lady (Candylady) to conjure up a hex to make him want her. It's humorous, frank and reminds us of those deep rooted southern ways. Definitely for the mature audience.
