Scrapmettle actors read two plays by poet/playwright Amiri Baraka (LeRoi Jones).
Dutchman takes place on a New York Subway where a young African American man and an white woman's flirtation leads to violent end when she pushes his buttons about race, class and masculinity. In The Slave, Baraka drops us off in the middle of a very personal race riot with and African American man, his white ex and her new white husband. Both address underlying race and sexual tensions within intimate social contexts.
